CallBlock: Custom Rules — Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
CallBlock: Custom Rules helps you block unwanted calls using flexible local rules on your Android device. Your blocking rules and call history stay on your phone. We do not sell your personal data.
What we collect
We do not collect, upload, or store your call-blocking data on developer-operated servers.
CallBlock has no account system and no developer-operated backend.
- Blocking rules you create are stored locally in an on-device database.
- Blocked-call history may include phone numbers, timestamps, and the local rule that caused a block. This history stays on your device.
- App preferences such as theme and notification choices are stored locally.
- No email, login, or cloud sync is required.
- We do not use a separate developer analytics SDK in the current release.
Deleting a rule or history entry removes it from your device. Uninstalling CallBlock removes app-local data. Android backup is disabled for this app.
Call screening and contacts
When you choose CallBlock as your call-screening app, Android sends
incoming-call details to the app so your rules can be applied. CallBlock
does not request access to your SMS messages, location, or the system
call log (READ_CALL_LOG / WRITE_CALL_LOG).
Contacts access is requested so CallBlock can apply rules to saved numbers, support contacts-only blocking modes, and warn when a new rule may match someone in your address book. Contact lookup happens only on your device. Contacts are not uploaded or shared.
Advertising and consent
The app uses Google AdMob to show in-app ads. AdMob and related Google services may collect and process information such as device identifiers, ad interactions, and diagnostics according to your consent choices and Google's Privacy Policy.
Where required, Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) presents privacy and consent choices before personalized ads are requested. You can review ad privacy choices from Settings when available.
Your blocking rules and blocked-call history are not provided to the advertising SDK. Ads appear only inside CallBlock; they do not appear in call-screening or post-call system surfaces.
Network use
Call blocking works without a cloud spam database. Internet access may be used for advertising and consent management when ads are enabled.
Permissions
- Call screening role — to evaluate incoming calls against your local rules when you set CallBlock as the call-screening app.
- Contacts — for contacts-only rules and on-device contact matching as described above.
- Notifications — for optional local alerts when a call is blocked or for post-call review actions. You can disable them in Settings or Android system settings.
Third-party services
Current version: Blocking rules and history remain on your device. Ads are served through Google AdMob. Consent is managed through Google's User Messaging Platform where applicable.
